Description

Job Summary:

The primary purpose and goal of the custodial staff is to provide a well maintained, clean, and safe environment for all district staff, students and patrons alike, and to be as accommodating and supportive as possible to the needs of all TRS organization staff, employees, and parent volunteers of each building.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

 

  • Responsible for cleaning of assigned school space, which may include cafeteria, classrooms, athletic areas, etc. Keep restrooms clean and well supplied at all times

 

  • Provide floor care daily to include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, spray buffing, scrubbing, applying floor finish.

 

  • Keep housekeeping closets clean and supplied with the cleaning materials necessary to do the job. Keep all closets, mechanical room doors, (such as fan room doors) boiler room doors, and electrical room doors remain locked and secured.

 

  • Replace light bulbs and tubes, ceiling tiles and other building supply items which are provided for installation by the custodial staff

 

·        Report any damage to school property to building administrator and request repair via the work order system. 

 

  • Maintain the security of the classrooms and the building by checking that all students are out of the building, lights are off, windows and doors are locked, rooms and buildings checked for fire hazards.

 

·        Mow and weed-eat as needed in courtyards and areas surrounding building as directed.

 

·        Set up tables, chairs, etc. for school activities as directed.

 

·        Must be willing to travel and relocate to different campus locations; periodically.

 

·        Perform other duties as assigned; however, all employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by the TRS Crew; if required.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent (ex. G.E.D.)

Work Experience:

·        1 year previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred.

·        Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

·        Must be able to read, speak and comprehend English and good written, verbal command of the English language.

·        Knowledge of safety operations of all vehicles and other job related equipment.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

·        None

Equipment Used: Cleaning chemicals, light grounds, plumbing, electrical maintenance knowledge.

Working/Environmental Conditions / Mental Demands/Physical Demands:

·        Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 50 pounds.

·        Balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and/or standing.

·        Exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.

·        Must be willing to travel between each TRS campus; as needed

·        May be assigned to a different campus location.  A one week notice will be provided if changes in location is required.

·        Exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noises, and odors. Exposure to wet and/or slippery surfaces.

·        Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.

·        Interactions with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals.

·        Lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment.

·        Performing tasks that require strenuous physical exertion.

·        Traveling to meetings and work assignments.

·        Working at various heights, in confined spaces, and/or in variable/diminished lighting.

·        Working in proximity to moving mechanical parts.
